A common misconception: Danny Long is a man.
She is not. 

Danielle completed a BSc in marine biology in 1989. Her ambition was to shoot a documentary with Jacques Cousteau - he died.  

After a brief period of mourning, Danny turned to acting. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1994, and worked as an actor, both in theatre and TV. She eventually found her herself working at Barrett Casting for many years, starting as a reader, then casting assistant, casting associate and eventually casting director.

Danny established Danny Long Casting in 2010. Her approach to casting pairs traditional casting methods with wide-reaching searches across diverse communities. Some of her recent feature film credits include: Tenzing (Dir. Jennifer Peedom), Send Help (Dir. Sam Raimi), Disney’s live-action Moana 2026 (Dir. Thomas Kail), Hold Still (Dir. Orla Doyle), and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Dir. Wes Ball). For television, Danny cast the AACTA Award-winning Latecomers (SBS), Homebodies (SBS), Miss Sultanah (SBS) and Caper Crew (ABC TV). 

Danny works alongside her invaluable associate, Ryan Madden. Also originally an actor, in 2019 Ryan was eventually coaxed away from acting to work full time at DLC. His recent casting director credits include: Egg (Dir. Zachary Wiesel), Miss Sultanah (SBS), Homebodies (SBS) and soon to be released music video Can’t Wait by artist, Andy Cook (Dir. Harry Welsh).
